Presentation of the service and the network
The water supply service supplies drinking water to the inhabitants of the municipality from catchments distributed across the municipality. These catchments are located on the one hand in the old municipality of La Reid (Bronromme, Ry Sauvage, Fagne aux Grenouilles, Menobu, Elnoumont) and, on the other, in the old Theux territory (Staneux wood, Awieux, Hodbomont). The former municipality of Polleur receives its water supply from SWDE (from the Eupen dam) but its network is managed by the municipal service.
Special feature: for part of the Tancrémont network, the water is provided by the municipal company to SWDE which manages the network on the Pepinster side.
Our personnel is versatile both in the use of the vehicles and in the many tasks required to manage a water production and supply network.
Some examples: treatment of the untreated water before distribution, analysis of the supplied water and the untreated water in conjunction with the Malvoz laboratory, leak detection and repair, installation of meters, installation of pipes, connecting housing to the public network, etc.
At the end of 2006, the municipal network produced 583,000 m3 of drinking water, had 4,300 connections to the supply network and maintained 155 km of water pipes.
A few reminders on saving water
In case of over-use or problems, always check as a priority:
-
the safety valve installed on the hot water circuit;
-
the flush.
Examples of consumption:
-
A drip uses +/- 4 l/hour, i.e. 35 m3/year.
-
A thin trickle of water uses +/- 16 l/hour, i.e. 140 m3/year.
-
A leak from a flush uses +/- 25 l/hour, i.e. 219 m3/year.
