Reminder of our article which appeared in June 2006: "Rental permits" - VERY IMPORTANT.
If you are the owner and landlord of a property which matches the characteristics described below, you cannot rent it without a rental permit.
- Individual housing units as well as student rooms, which are furnished and occupy less than 28 m2 (entrance halls, bathrooms, WCs, cellars, attics, etc. are not included in the calculation of the living area).
- Collective housing units: By collective housing is meant housing of which at least one habitable room (kitchen, living room, TV room, etc. or toilet or bathroom) is used by several households.
- Buildings not originally intended to be lived in but used in practice as housing.
Exemption: Housing located in the building in which the landlord lives is not included (if the building comprises at most two rented units and four tenants).
If you are the owner of housing requiring a rental permit or are a tenant of such housing, please contact the municipal housing service, in your own interest.
